SPECIALTY DESIGN-BUILD

In the specialty design-build process, the customer and general contractor work together from the beginning, as a team, providing unified project recommendations to fit the owner’s schedule and budget. Any changes are addressed by the entire build team, leading to rapid collaborative problem-solving and innovation, not excuses or blame-shifting.

While single-source contracting is the fundamental difference between design-build and the old ways, equally important is the culture of collaboration inherent in design-build. We help to create reports on constructability and feasibility.

Our comprehensive estimates also reflect available lower-price options, and we provide possible cost impacts and savings on a line item breakdown. This frees our design team and customers to focus the budget on what’s critical to them.

Other benefits of design-build include having one central source for information exchange which reduces costs (compared to traditional design-bid-build methodology) and minimizes risks for owners and leads to faster project completion.

RESTAURANT & RETAIL

Restaurants are unique; there is a required level of specialization and experience to ensure the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing elements of the project work in harmony with the front and back of house layout.

The Quillen team has worked with owners to optimize kitchen layout, retrofit office space to restaurant space as well as design and build first-generation restaurant space. We understand the importance of ensuring the kitchen is operational, efficient and meets all of the necessary safety and health codes.

We work closely with you, your architect, and the design team to create a space with the ideal equipment, materials, and floor plan for your restaurant and commercial kitchen needs.

GROUND-UP

A ground-up construction project is building a structure completely from scratch. This means building walls, footings, foundations, and so on where nothing existed before. One of the benefits of ground-up construction is that you can build in stages; as your company grows, so can your building.

However, building in phases also means that ground-up projects tend to take longer than renovations. Another benefit of a ground-up construction project is that they afford you almost unlimited flexibility.

You are able to completely customize the building to the various needs of your company. This flexibility comes at a price as ground-up projects tend to be more expensive than renovations.

The Quillen team has taken buildings from the ground up all along the Wasatch front. From restaurants, retail shops, industrial and manufacturing buildings, to full-scale turn-key Data Centers.
